Russell Lyons- Coach/Owner
Coach Russell started cheering his freshman year of high school. He cheered all 4 years and was Captain of his Varsity Team. After graduation, Coach Russell joined the Marine Corps and spent 7 ½ years as an Intelligence Operator, Platoon Sergeant, and eventually became an Intelligence Instructor. During his time on active duty, Coach Russell continued to volunteer his time when he could and in 2003 was awarded the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and also received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award from President George W. Bush. After his Honorable Discharge, he went into coaching. He spent 2 years as the Cheerleading Coach for Carver Center for the Arts & Technology in Towson, MD, then moved onto coaching for the Hereford Zone Recreation Cheerleading teams. His final 3 years coaching there, he was the Director for the Cheerleading League. He next spent 1 year as the Head Coach for the Rebounder Gymnastics Cheerleading Team in Timonium, MD, before opening his own competitive cheerleading & dance gym named Regal All-Stars LLC in Timonium, MD. Currently he is a coach for the Baltimore County Special Olympics Cheerleading Teams, and a member of the Maryland State Special Olympics Cheerleading Management Team, as well as the instructor for Special Olympics Maryland Cheerleading Coaches Certification. In addition to coaching the Senior Level 3 Team, the Devil Dogs, Coach Russell also coaches the Towson University All-Star Teams, Gold & Black. Coach Russell believes that cheerleading should be a fun sport for everyone to enjoy. He runs his teams that way, while still stressing the importance of safety first. In May of 2016, Coach Russell was named Coach of the Year, by US Finals. He takes the core values he learned while in the Marine Corps…Honor, Courage, & Commitment, and tries to instill them into all of his cheerleaders.
Tiara Brown - Cheer Coach
Coach Tiara attends Towson University majoring in Sociology-Anthropology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. She began cheering her 9th grade year at Wilde Lake High School. While on junior varsity, she won the Wildecat award for her team spirit. She then went on to make varsity during the spring of her freshman year. Coach Tiara became co-captain of her team during her senior year. Before that, she was on her middle school’s Poms Squad. Coach Tiara entered the all-star cheer world during her freshman year at Towson University through the university’s club cheer team which Coach Russell coaches. She began assistant coaching at Regal All-Stars in the spring of 2017 for the Devil Pups under Coach Danielle. Coach Tiara became Head Coach of the Bulldogs in the summer of 2017, then took over as Head Coach of the Devil Pups in early 2018 when Coach Danielle went on maternity leave. This season Coach Tiara will be the Head Coach of the Corporals, our Junior Level 2 team.
Coach Amanda - Cheer Coach
Coach Amanda is a recent Alumni of McDaniel college with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and an associate's degree in teaching secondary education for mathematics. She participated in several dance teams throughout her youth and started back into dance her freshman year of college with McDaniel's Dance Team. She then transferred to the cheerleading team after a year, and proceeded to cheer through her college years. Her senior year she was voted cheer captain. Coach Amanda joined Regal All-Stars midway through the 2017-2018 season as the assistant coach to the youth team, the Bulldogs. This season she will be returning as the head coach of the Bulldogs junior level 1 team.
Coach Alysssa - Cheer Coach
Coach Alyssa started her cheerleading career at the age of 5. She started out cheering for the Kentucky Cheer Academy Tigers. Alyssa moved from Kentucky to Pennsylvania at the age of 11, where she began cheering for PA Elite All Stars on their level 4 team. Once she reached high school age she took a break from all star and tried out for the school team. She made the varsity level team at Biglerville High School all four years. Throughout middle school and high school Alyssa volunteered as a cheerleader and mentor for the Pennsylvania Special Olympics. After high school, Alyssa was a co-ed and all girl flyer for Eastern Kentucky University. Coach Alyssa and her team placed 3rd at college nationals. After 3 years of cheer “retirement,” she has joined our cheer family. Coach Alyssa is our flyers coach, working specifically with our Level 3 and Level 4 teams.
Coach Katie - Cheer Coach
Coach Katie started cheerleading when she was 7 years old. She began her cheerleading career with Coach Russell at Hereford Rec Council and continued to cheer for Hereford Rec Council until her 8th grade year. She participated in each season, including the extended season through the winter. Coach Katie cheered for the Varsity Cheerleading Team at Hereford High School in her Freshman year. After her freshman year, she decided to cheer for Coach Russell again, now as Regal All Stars! She continued to cheer for Regal All-Stars until she went to college. Coach Katie has returned to Regal All-Stars after graduating from UM College Park with her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. Coach Katie is the Assistant Coach of the Devil Dogs our Senior Level 4 team.
Stephanie Fruhling - Gym Manager
Stephanie has a background in business and banking. She has also served as a PTA treasurer in the past. Stephanie joined the Regal family as a parent in the summer of 2015. She served as the Treasurer of the Regal All-Star Parent Organization from the fall of 2015 to the fall of 2017. At that point, Stephanie joined the staff of Regal All-Stars as the Gym Manager. In this role, Stephanie handles many of the day to day tasks that need to happen to run a successful business.
